Crisp County Coroner

The Crisp County Coroner, with assistance from the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office, the Cordele Police Department, the Arabi Police Department, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigations, is responsible for investigating deaths that fall under the jurisdiction of the office, particularly deaths that are sudden, unexpected, unattended, or occur under circumstances requiring official investigation. The Coroner works with law enforcement, medical professionals, funeral homes, and other agencies to document the circumstances surrounding a death and assist in determining the appropriate manner of death.

The Crisp County Coroner is also responsible for completing required reports and records, ensuring proper identification of decedents, and coordinating the transfer of remains in accordance with applicable Georgia law and established procedures.

The Crisp County Coroner is elected by the voters for four-year terms. The Crisp County Coroner has Deputy Coroners who assist him in certain duties with his office.
